The Task is shown as Overdue if the assigned task has not been approved before the Due Date of the Task has been reached.

The Overdue status cannot be removed from the Task and is in addition to the other Statuses.

Example: Task status is awaiting approval but is now marked as overdue. This means that the task was not closed in time. The Overdue flag allows a business to see when a total task is overdue and not the individual status / stages of a task within the task life cycle.
